Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of music that traverses sorrow, hope, and renewal.
Three extraordinary musicians — Daniel Jordan, Concertmaster of the Sarasota Orchestra; Natalie Helm, the orchestra’s Principal Cellist; and Marina Radiushina, Artistic Director of the Miami Chamber Music Society — unite for a deeply moving program that celebrates the enduring power of the human spirit.
The performance opens with Prokofiev’s Five Songs Without Words, Op. 35b, a work of lyrical wit and poignancy originally written for voice and reimagined for violin and piano. From there, Lysenko’s deeply heartfelt Élégie. La Tristesse offers a moment of introspection and quiet beauty before the trio turns to Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2 in E Minor, Op. 67 — a work of searing emotional power — and finally, the radiant Brahms Piano Trio No. 1 in B Major, Op. 8, which closes the program in a spirit of lyrical renewal.
Together, these works form a compelling journey through anguish and endurance toward light — an affirmation that beauty and strength endure, even in the face of adversity.
